New year, new happenings

Wow,
I have no idea where the latter part of 2010 went, but it's definitely over.  There has been an election of new Board members for the new year and we're anxiously awaiting the results of the balloting. We've added a couple of new members to the chapter, but unfortunately have also had some people who have not attended meetings in 2010.  The Board has been left scratching our collective head and at a loss for answers as to what it is that needs to be different.  Please, let us know what it is that we're missing so we can work on doing it.
We've added a couple of things for the new year....we're now on Facebook and LinkedIn, so check us out there. The Facebook page is Denveraalnc and the LinkedIn site is Denver Chapter AALNC. Join us!!One of our goals for the new year is to increase communication, so this is a step.
We've reached out to Colorado members of NACLNC in hopes of offering another option for those folks for both education and networking.
We'd love to have more involvement in the work of the chapter from the general membership and the first committee that will be needed to start working will be the Nominations Committee.  As Past President this year, chairing that committee will be my job and I will be actively seeking members to help with that as soon as the year begins. There's only one requirement :  the willingness to help to find nominees for the next election.  I'd really like to have ballots in the mail by the end of September this year, so that we can introduce our new Board to the membership at the November meeting.
Speaking of the new year, our first speaker this year will be Trish Councell, one of our newer members, who will be speaking about the evolution and role of service dogs. Cara, Trish's service dog, will be helping with this presentation and I'm sure they've got lots to share with us. The January meeting will be sponsored by Expert Consulting Service (a Denver based business that helps clients locate experts of various kinds) their President, Ingrid Vinci, will be joining us to tell us more about what her company does and to meet us.
This year looks to be exciting and interesting.  We hope to see all of you at the meeting on January 18th, starting at 6:30 (Board meeting will be at 5:30, as usual) at the Pegasus Restaurant in Castle Rock. Our meeting room is just to the right of the entry door.  Let's see if we can't fill it!  As usual, we ask that everyone pay for their own dinner.
In the meantime, stay warm and stay busy!

Lin
